Belgium profit from Croatian draw

Croatia were denied victory by Scotland's Kenny Miller's last-minute penalty, a result that guaranteed Belgium first place in UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group Six.

Croatia were denied victory by Scotland's Kenny Miller's last-minute penalty, a result that guaranteed Belgium first place in UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group Six.

Red cards
Croatia went ahead in the 58th minute through Mate Bilic almost immediately after Stephen Caldwell had been sent off for a second bookable offence. Croatia captain Jurica Vranjes later departed in the same manner as Caldwell, which provided the spur for the late Scottish onslaught.

Third time, unlucky
The result marked the third time in three away outings in the competition that Croatia conceded a goal in the dying moments of the match. In Latvia, they conceded an 88th minute goal to draw 1-1 with their hosts, while against Belgium, they leaked a last minute goal that cost them a point.

Eliminated
Belgium top the Group Six standings with 12 points from their four matches to date. Croatia move to eight points from five outings, with Scotland a further four points behind with a game in hand. Latvia make up the group with one point from five matches.
