The draw for the 2002 UEFA European Under-21 Championship final tournament will take place at 12.00CET on Monday 25 February at UEFA's headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.
Eight teams
The eight-team tournament will take place in Switzerland between 16 and 28 May and will comprise hosts Switzerland, holders Italy, France, England, Portugal, Greece, Belgium and Czech Republic.
Four venues
The matches will be played in two centres. Basel and Zürich are the venues for Centre A (St. Jakob stadium and Hardturm stadium) and Geneva and Lausanne the venues for Centre B (Charmilles stadium and La Pontaise stadium). The draw will divide the eight teams into two groups of four, one to play in Centre A and the other to play in Centre B.
Two seeds
Italy and France, the two seeded teams, will each be allocated to one of the two groups. Italy are seeded as holders, France as the team with the highest coefficient obtained during the qualifying phase of the tournament. The top two teams in each group will progress to the semi-finals.
