Article body
Pierre-Alain Frau was the hero for France as they scored a significant 1-0 friendly victory over fellow UEFA European Under-21 Championship finalists Portugal.
Fine form
After a goalless first half, the 21-year-old FC Sochaux-Montbéliard striker found the net in the 69th minute in Braga to silence the home crowd. Steed Malbranque fed the ball into the area and Frau reacted quickest to score. Frau has been in fine form this season, scoring 12 Le Championnat goals in 24 matches.
Kept apart
France and Portugal are in separate groups for the eight-team May finals, meaning they can only meet in the knock-out stages. The competition, being staged in Switzerland, runs from 16 to 28 May.
