Marica double lifts Romania

Romania 2-0 Luxembourg Ciprian Marica scores either side of half-time to secure victory for Romania.

Romania in control
A previous victory for Romania in Luxembourg had given today's home side the only points either team had picked up in their campaigns so far. And Romania took control of the game in the first half in their bid to end their run of three home matches without a point or a goal in the group.

Marica scores
That elusive goal finally came on 45 minutes through FC Dinamo Bucuresti striker Ciprian Marica, as he converted a cross from new AFC Ajax recruit Nicolae Mitea - who had only been released from the full squad yesterday.

Victory confirmed
Marica doubled the lead five minutes into the second half as he shot in after linking up with a fine pass from FCM Bacau forward Andrei Cristea. Luxembourg played the last 23 minutes with ten men after Nico Zhan was dismissed for violent conduct, but they kept the score to 2-0.

Next fixtures
Romania end their campaign in Denmark on Tuesday, when Luxembourg play out their penultimate match against Bosnia-Herzegovina.
