Marin marvels at Romania role

Florin Marin is relishing "the chance of a lifetime" after being named coach of Romania's Under-21 side.

Florin Marin has been appointed coach of Romania's Under-21 side, replacing Nicolae Manea who surprisingly stepped down last week

Tough pedigree
The 51-year-old Marin, a former player with both FC Rapid Bucuresti and FC Steaua Bucuresti, garnered a reputation as a tough operator during spells in charge of a number of top-flight clubs, including Rapid and FC Dinamo Bucuresti.

Contract terminated
He arrives from second division side FC Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt, where he terminated his contract by mutual consent, after being proposed for the job by Victor Piturca, his close friend and the Romania national team coach.

Dutch next
"It's the chance of a lifetime," said Marin, whose side top UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 1. His first qualifier is against the Netherlands on 25 March
