Kazakhstan contain Denmark

Kazakhstan 1-1 Denmark Group 2 winners Denmark had to come from behind to pick up a point in their final pool fixture in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan ahead
Tournament debutants Kazakhstan secured their second win in qualifying on Friday in Georgia, and were on top early on. Vadim Borovskiy, who scored the only goal in Georgia, was on target again eleven minutes in after Vitaliy Yevstigneyev's cross from the left was flicked on by the chest of Aidar Argimbayev. Borovskiy's powerful shot gave Denmark goalkeeper Theis Rasmussen no chance.

Rasmussen converts
Kazakhstan were ahead for just 12 minutes as Peraly Aliyev conceded a penalty, converted by Morten Rasmussen. The home side pushed forward again and Alexey Shakin created three chances for his striking partner Argimbayev, who twice forced Rasmussen to save and missed from close range.

Play-off draw
However, Denmark began to take control after the break and tiring Kazakhstan packed their midfield, leaving Argimbayev as a lone attacker. Morten Rasmussen came close with headers from crosses by Kasper Lorentzen and Jacob Sørensen, and the same player had his one-on-one run stopped bravely by goalkeeper Alexandr Grigorenko. But Kazakhstan held firm to take their tally to seven points, while Denmark can look forward to being seeded in the play-off draw at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland on Thursday at 13.00CET, the matches being played on 12/16 November.
