Germany waltz past Austria

Austria 0-3 Germany Mike Hanke was the star of the show as Germany finished their Group 6 campaign with a comfortable win over their neighbours.

Germany completed their UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying Group 6 programme with a comfortable 3-0 win at neighbours Austria.

Hanke stars
Having long since made certain of a place in the play-offs, Dieter Eilts's side confirmed that they would go into Thursday's draw as one of the seeded teams as Mike Hanke played a starring role. The VfL Wolfsburg striker opened the scoring for the vistors eight minutes into the second half, beating goalkeeper Ramazan Özcan with a shot from a David Odonkor cross.

Result assured
Hanke then linked up with defender Moritz Volz to extend the Germans' lead barely two minutes later, and the result was already certain by the time that Hanke set up the third goal for substitute Markus Brzenska with 14 minutes remaining.
