Article body
Denmark's preparations for this summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship suffered a minor setback in Rijeka as they were defeated by Croatia.
Clinical Croatia
AJ Auxerre midfielder Thomas Kahlenberg struck in added time to make it 2-1, but it proved little more than a consolation as Croatia hung on to their lead. Flemming Serritslev's side were left to rue missed opportunities as the more clinical home side capitalised on two first-half opportunities. Ahmad Sharbini broke the deadlock after nine minutes and Croatia looked to be cruising when Mensur Mujdža doubled the advantage ten minutes before the interval.
Summer schedule
Denmark have been drawn in Group B in this summer's U21 finals where they will meet Ukraine, Italy and the Netherlands. The top two teams from the section will progress to the semi-finals. Denmark qualified after finishing top in Group 2, and then beating Group 3 runners-up Russia in last November's play-offs.
