Ticket demand delights U21 chiefs

UEFA European Under-21 Championship tickets have gone on sale at Portuguese post offices - and the public have been quick to take advantage.

Ticket demand
That number was snapped up within five hours of tickets going on sale at CTT post offices around the country, following an agreement between the CTT, UEFA and the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF) aimed at both generating and satisfying public interest in the finals competition. The demand was greatest for Portugal's opening game against France on 23 May.

Post office sales
Tickets have been available from the six final-round venues - Agueda, Aveiro, Barcelos, Braga, Guimaraes and Porto – since 4 March, but will be accessible to a larger percentage of the population through the CTT sales, and then, from 30 March, via the internet (www.uefa.com, www.fpf.pt and www.ctt.pt).

Footballing festival
"We are very pleased with the interest shown by the public in getting tickets," said tournament director João Morais. "This is a strong indicator of the kind of interest Portuguese fans will have in the competition. Portugal can expect another footballing festival in May." Tickets can be purchased from a total of 1,000 post offices across the country until 21 April.
