France dealt Congré blow

The France defender Daniel Congré will miss this summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship after suffering a foot injury on Saturday.

The 20-year-old Toulouse FC player had only just returned from a shoulder injury when he broke the fifth metatarsal bone in his right foot during the 1-1 draw against RC Lens. Despite only featuring once for René Girard's side during qualifying, Congré was tipped to make the coach's squad for finals in Portugal, which get under way on 23 May.

Croatia match
Meanwhile, France have confirmed that they will play a friendly against Croatia on 18 May at a venue "in the south-west of France". The fixture will serve as ideal preparation for the Group A game against Serbia and Montenegro on 28 May.
