France could be without Ronald Zubar for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship finals after the influential centre-back sustained a thigh injury on Saturday.

The SM Caen captain pulled a muscle during his club's 3-1 Ligue 2 win at Montpellier SC - a result which maintained the Normandy side's hopes of being promoted to the French top flight - and will not play again for his club this season. Zubar, a key part of France coach René Girard's defence, now faces a race against time in order to be fit for the finals in Portugal in five weeks' time, although he has stressed he will be fit. The French will take on the hosts on 23 May and also meet Germany and Serbia and Montenegro in Group A.
