Noble cause for England

Mark Noble and James Vaughan have both been rewarded for fine recent form with call ups to England's provisional squad for next month's U21 Championship.

West Ham United FC midfielder Mark Noble and Everton FC striker James Vaughan have both been rewarded for fine recent form with call ups to England coach Stuart Pearce's provisional 30-man squad for next month's UEFA European Under-21 Championship in the Netherlands.

Villa strength
Vaughan and Noble, who scored in West Ham's 3-1 win against Bolton Wanderers FC last Saturday, are two of five uncapped players in the party, with Ben Alnwick, Lee Cattermole and Michael Johnson also included. England international David Nugent, who scored on his senior debut against Andorra at the end of March, is also included. England's final friendly is against Slovakia at Carrow Road on 5 June before they kick off their U21 Championship campaign against the Czech Republic in Arnhem on 11 June. The squad will be reduced to 23 players on 30 May.
