Hosts to do without Emanuelson

Urby Emanuelson has withdrawn from the Netherlands squad for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship citing exhaustion after a long season with AFC Ajax.

'So tired'
After discussions between U21 coach Foppe de Haan, senior national-team coach Marco van Basten, Royal Netherlands Football Association officials and club representatives, it was decided that the versatile defender would not be considered for the finals. Emanuelson was part of the Netherlands squad that won the U21 title in Portugal last summer, but De Haan said: "He was so tired in Portugal last year that he could only play in the final."
