UEFA to probe Nijmegen incidents

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings following a number of incidents during and after England's 2-0 UEFA European U21 Championship defeat of Serbia.

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against both the Football Association of Serbia (FSS) and England's Football Association (FA) following a number of incidents during and after England's 2-0 win over Serbia in the UEFA Under-21 Championship on Sunday.

Serbia cases
In regard to alleged racist chanting, UEFA will instigate proceedings against the FSS over the misconduct of their supporters. Proceedings will also be instigated against the FSS for the improper conduct of their players on two occasions: following England's second goal and after the match.

England investigated
UEFA will also commence proceedings against the FA for the improper conduct of the England players after the match. These cases will be discussed on the occasion of the next ordinary hearing of the UEFA Control & Disciplinary Body on 12 July 2007.

Huddlestone case
Meanwhile, the decision on the length of the suspension of England midfield player Tom Huddlestone will be made today. The player is automatically suspended for one match following his dismissal against Serbia and will miss the semi-final on 20 June against the Netherlands.
