Kircher to get semi-finals under way

UEFA has named the officials to take charge of the semi-finals and Olympic play-off, with German referee Knut Kircher overseeing the Netherlands-England tie.

German referee Knut Kircher will get the semi-finals of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship under way when he blows the whistle for the start of the Netherlands-England match in Heerenveen on Wednesday.

Third appointment
The 38-year-old is familiar with both teams, having overseen the Netherlands' 2-1 defeat of Portugal and England's 2-0 success against Serbia. That game, kicking off at 18.15CET, will be followed at 20.45 by the second semi between Serbia and Belgium in Arnhem. Robert Małek will be in the middle at the Gelredome, his third appointment of the finals after taking charge of Portugal-Belgium and Czech Republic-Serbia. Frenchman Stéphane Lannoy will oversee the Olympic play-off between Portugal and Italy in Nijmegen on Thursday.
