The City of Heerenveen will hand over the UEFA European Under-21 Championship trophy to UEFA President Michel Platini on Saturday to signal the end of its tour of the Netherlands.

Stadium ceremony
On behalf of the local organising committee, the mayor of Heerenveen, Peter de Jonge, will give back the silverware in a ceremony at the close of the UEFA Executive Committee's press conference at the Abe Lenstra Stadium. The committee meets on Friday afternoon and Saturday morning, with the conference scheduled to take place in the Trip Zaal room at approximately 12.15CET.

Promotional purposes
Each of the four U21 venues - Arnhem, Groningen, Heerenveen and Nijmegen - have played host to the trophy in recent weeks to help promote the tournament. The trophy has latterly been on display in a museum in Heerenveen, and will be transported after the ceremony to Groningen where the Netherlands and Serbia will compete to lift it on Saturday night.
