Czechs leave it late

Ukraine 0-2 Czech Republic
Jiří Jeslínek and František Rajtoral took the visitors above their opponents and to the top of qualifying Group 2.

Oliynyk opportunities
Oleksii Mykhailychenko's side were hoping to strengthen their lead in the pool with a home win against their second-placed rivals but despite creating a number of goalscoring chances, came up short against a well-organised Czech Republic side. FC Naftovyk-Ukrnafta Okhtyrka midfielder Denes Oliynyk passed up two presentable opportunities to put the home side ahead before the break while Dmytro Lopa and FC Shakhtar Donetsk's Olexandr Gladkiy also squandered decent opportunities.

Jeslínek strike
The visitors grew in confidence as the game wore on and proved more ruthless on 73 minutes when Mario Holek headed down a well-taken set-piece into the path of substitute Jeslínek, who lashed the opening goal high into the net. Rajtoral completed the scoring five minutes from time, following up after Holek's initial shot had been blocked. The win takes Czech Republic two points clear of their opponents having played one match less.
