Germany senior coach Joachim Löw has allowed Dieter Eilts to include VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach midfielder Marko Marin in his squad for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-off against France, while there is also a place for fit-again FC Schalke 04 goalkeeper Manuel Neuer.

Marin experience
Löw used Marin in the senior side's two most recent fixtures but was happy to release him for the qualifying double-header against France in Magdeburg on 10 October and in Metz five days later. "It's been decided to use Marko Marin in the play-offs as he's already played an important part in the senior squad," Löw said.

Neuer return
Neuer last played for the U21s on 28 May, having been sidelined since by a broken metatarsal, and Eilts is delighted to welcome him back. "Manuel Neuer is a talent and an important team member, so I'm glad he has overcome his injury." With Getafe CF midfielder Eugen Polanski also returning, Eilts has a strong selection available but still expects a tough encounter: "Two great football nations are going to meet with both deserving a place in the finals. We will prepare well for the play-off and do everything we can to make it."
