VfB Stuttgart midfielder Sami Khedira is out of the second leg of Germany's UEFA European Under-21 Championship play-off with France and UEFA Cup Matcday 1 after tearing ligaments in his left ankle in the dying moments of Friday's 1-1 home draw.
Double blow
Khedira suffered the injury in the dying minutes and has been ruled out for three weeks, including Wednesday's return in Metz and Stuttgart's Group C opener against Sevilla FC on 23 October. Germany U21 coach Dieter Eilts is also without playmaker Marko Marin due to a torn calf muscle.
