Norway 0-5 England
Half-time substitute Matt Derbyshire scored twice as UEFA European Under-21 Championship finalists England emerged comfortable winners in snow-swept Sandefjord.
Wintry conditions
Snow had been falling since Thursday night in southern Norway but it did little to deter Stuart Pearce's team from ensuring a winning return to action having lost to Ecuador in Malaga last month. Frazier Campbell and Adam Johnson gave the visitors a half-time lead before three goals in seven second-half minutes from Tom Huddlestone and Derbyshire, who is on loan at Olympiacos CFP from Blackburn Rovers FC, secured an emphatic triumph.
Johnson strike
Campbell dragged an early opportunity wide although he was to be more clinical with his next chance after 17 minutes when his shot squirmed under the body of Norway goalkeeper Lasse Staw. The striker then squandered two chances to double his and England's tally, rolling a shot past the post and then shooting over, before Johnson found the target with a first-time strike inside the far post after Nedum Onuoha cut the ball back.
Derbyshire double
The hosts, who had posed little threat to Joe Hart's goal in the first period, were spared the concession of a third goal by the assistant referee's raised flag against Derbyshire moments after he replaced Onuoha. Huddlestone did make it three, though, with a speculative effort from outside the penalty area on 73 minutes while Derbyshire added the fourth and fifth soon after, finishing off passes from Michael Mancienne and James Milner.
