Werder Bremen have signed Germany Under-21 international Marko Marin from Bundesliga rivals VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach for an undisclosed fee.
Dual ambition
The 20-year-old Marin, a member of the Germany side that has reached the last four of the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Sweden, has agreed a four-year deal with Bremen, tying him to the Weserstadion until summer 2013. "I'm very happy that the transfer has been worked out and now I can focus on the U21 European Championship semi-final against Italy on Friday," said the winger. "I would like to help Werder reach their goals over the next few years and prove myself in the Europa League this coming season."
'Big talent'
Described as "one of the biggest talents in German football" by new coach Thomas Schaaf, Marin has already made six appearances for Germany's senior side but has stepped down to help Horst Hrubesch's side's bid in Sweden. He already knows two of his new club-mates well: Sebastian Boenisch and Mesut Özil are also in the U21 party.
