Tomkins replaces Richards in England squad

James Tomkins, an unused substitute when England lost the 2009 final to Germany, has replaced Micah Richards in Stuart Pearce's squad for the upcoming finals in Denmark.

West Ham United FC centre-back James Tomkins has replaced the injured Micah Richards in England's squad for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship.

Manchester City FC defender Richards withdrew from the squad on Thursday because of a hamstring injury. Tomkins was an unused substitute when England lost the 2009 final to Germany, having made two appearances in the group stage.
