England's Pritchard out of U21 EURO

England have lost a second player to injury at the U21 EURO after Tottenham midfielder Alex Pritchard's withdrawal because of damaged ankle ligaments.

England have lost a second player to injury at the U21 EURO after midfielder Alex Pritchard's withdrawal because of damaged ankle ligaments.

Pritchard suffered the injury early in the second half of Sunday's Group B win over Sweden, after a heavy challenge, and limped off the pitch. The Tottenham player had scans on Monday which confirmed the ligament damage and meant that he follows forward Saido Berahino in having to depart the Czech Republic early.

The injury is a setback to manager Gareth Southgate given that Pritchard who was one of England's brightest performances prior to his withdrawal against Sweden.
