England will be without Wigan Athletic FC winger Callum McManaman for this summer's UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Israel.

England confirmed their final 23-man party on Tuesday, and McManaman was a surprise inclusion having never previously been involved in Stuart Pearce's squad. The 22-year-old was named man of the match as Wigan won the FA Cup with a 1-0 victory against Manchester City FC last weekend. However, he was forced off during the second half of Tuesday's 4-1 defeat at Arsenal FC which sealed Wigan's relegation from the Premier League.

The English Football Association (FA) revealed on Friday that McManaman damaged ankle ligaments and will be sidelined for three months. England, who kick off their finals campaign against Group A rivals Italy on 5 June, have yet to announce a replacement.
