Ibricić hastens San Marino demise

Bosnia-Herzegovina 5-1 San Marino A second-half flourish from the home side saw of Sammarinese resistance in Sarajevo.

Bosnia-Herzegovina overcame stubborn resistance from San Marino to earn a comfortable 5-1 win in their UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group 7 qualifier in Sarajevo.

Sammarinese equaliser
Ibrahim Zukanović's side were a goal ahead after just five minutes through Dario Puric's solo effort. San Marino did not fold, however, and went into the half-time interval on level terms after Giovanni Bonini set up striker Matteo Valli for a fine goal from the edge of the area after 20 minutes.

Ibricić on song
The second half was much less even and Bosnia-Herzegovina took the initiative again after Simone Valentini's foul on Senaid Ibricić earned the visitors a penalty. Ibricić picked himself up and duly converted the spot-kick, and then provided the cross that forced Alberto Celli to put through his own net on 68 minutes.

Late strikes
With Sammarinese resistance fading, Jusuf Dajić added a fourth with a solo effort after 79 minutes, and Petar Jelić's made it 5-1 with a volley two minutes from time - the 50th goal San Marino have conceded in this qualifying campaign. Zukanović was far from happy at full time, however: "We achieved the win we expected, but the players could have done more."
