Grand finale for Malta

Malta 1-1 Bulgaria Malta's Group 8 campaign finished on a high note as Andre Schembri's goal earned them a draw against Bulgaria.

Mark Miller's Malta ended their UEFA European Under-21 Championship Group 8 campaign on a high note as they earned a 1-1 draw against Bulgaria.

Schembri leveller
Valeri Domovchiyski opened the scoring for the visitors after just 14 minutes, beating Maltese goalkeeper Reuben Gauci with a shot from Iliyan Mitsanki's corner but it took Malta just four minutes to find a reply as Marsaxlokk FC's Andre Schembri rattled the ball home from close range.

Good goalkeeping
The Bulgarians went close to taking the lead again just before the end of the first half when Domovchiyski went closer with a solo effort, and captain Dimitar Rangelov subsequently saw his header hit the crossbar with Gauci beaten. The Maltese goalkeeper then made a fine save to deny Domovchiyski in the second half.
