Borovskiy earns rare Kazakh win

Georgia 0-1 Kazakhstan Vadim Borovskiy's spectacular strike shortly after half-time was enough to earn Kazakhstan a narrow victory in Bolnisi.

Vadim Borovskiy's spectacular strike shortly after half-time was enough to earn Kazakhstan a narrow victory in Georgia - their first ever away win in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying.

Georgia dismissal
After an even first half, the Kazakh midfielder pounced shortly after the restart, dispatching a clinical shot past the helpless Revaz Tevdoradze in the Georgia goal. The home side fought back, but never really threatened to break through a cohesive Kazakhstan defence, especially after Revaz Getsadze was dismissed for a second bookable offence after 70 minutes.

Shokh therapy
The win is testament to the rapid progress of the team under Anton Shokh. They lost all of their opening six U21 qualifying Group 2 fixtures before earning a memorable three-point haul at home against Turkey in June. Three defeats have since followed but Georgia never looked like making it four in a row this afternoon.
