Clinical Cyprus see off Iceland

Cyprus 2-0 Iceland Georgios Panagi and Georgios Shelis got the goals that lifted the home side off the bottom of qualifying Group 7.

Cyprus ended a four-match losing streak in UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifying with a 2-0 defeat of Iceland in Paphos, lifting Antros Kouloumbris's team off the bottom of Group 7.

Second-half surge
The hosts went into the game at the Paphiako Stadium having been beaten in all four fixtures since their 1-0 opening-day victory in Iceland in August. However, Georgios Panagi opened the scoring from the penalty spot early in the second period and Georgios Shelis quickly added a second, scoring for the second successive qualifier, to seal the points. Cyprus now have six points, alongside Iceland and two above Belgium ahead of the Belgians' visit on 26 March. Iceland's next opponents are Austria on 5 September.
