All the reaction: Czech Republic 1-1 Germany

Horst Hrubesch told his Germany team they could "begin the assault on the summit" after clinching a semi-final berth, while the Czech Republic are still dreaming of the Olympics.

Jakub Dovalil, Czech Republic coach
That's unfortunately how things go in football sometimes. I don't think we lost our chance to qualify in this game. Both teams played superbly. We have regrets about our second-half performance in the opening game against Denmark. At this level, the one who makes a mistake is punished and the tournament is over.

We didn't score a second goal, but Germany had chances on the counterattack, too. We are now going to support England, of course. The Olympic Games is something more than football itself. It would be really great after such great performances to get the chance to fight for a place at the Olymipcs and win it.

Horst Hrubesch, Germany coach
We knew what we were in for today. The Czechs made life difficult for us after they equalised. On the other hand, we also missed the opportunity to make it 2-0. There were again some passages of play which we didn't see through to the end. In the first half, there were a few situations which we didn't fully exploit, and in the second half, we had enough opportunities to kill the game off.

Germany celebrate progress to last four

Now, the pressure is off. Of course we want to go to the final, but we have achieved our minimum objective. We're in the semi-final and have our qualification for the Olympics in the bag. I have tried to explain to the players that we can now begin the assault on the summit. We have gone two-thirds of the way, and we can only win from here.

Pavel Kadeřábek, Czech Republic defender
We are really disappointed, but we left our hearts on the pitch. We got the fans behind us, they supported us throughout, and it was a great match. We forced Germany to be worried about the result, to be afraid of not going through to the semi-finals.

We put them under presssure at the end, but didn't create any big chances. We just needed to score a second goal to qualify. There are many positives we can take from this game, and we are now going to hope England finish in the top two in the other group and give us the chance to play for a place at the Olympics.

Joshua Kimmich, Germany midfielder
The Czechs didn't do badly! We expected to face a battling team. They have a lot of pace, and threw everything into it. They came back from 1-0 down, but luckily it didn't work out for them. Our chance conversion is the main reason that we didn't leave the pitch as winners. We also conceded a goal, which shouldn't happen, and when you see how many chances we missed, it was careless. We should have won the game.

We saw again today that we have to work together. We can achieve something at this tournament. We controlled the game to ensure we got the draw even if we had one or two more chances. We should have decided the game before then. There was a great atmosphere at the end and it was very loud in the stadium, but that inspired us.
