Tyresö FF have signalled their intent to win the UEFA Women's Champions League at the first attempt by signing Finland goalkeeper Tinja-Riikka Korpela. They have also extended the contracts of Sweden midfielder Lisa Dahlkvist and the American trio of Meghan Klingenberg, Whitney Engen and Christen Press, as well as welcoming back Madeleine Edlund from maternity leave.

Korpela, 27, arrives from LSK Kvinner FK on a two-year deal, having missed the Norwegian club's round of 32 exit to Tyresö's Swedish rivals FCR Malmö through injury. Capped 49 times, she was Finland's first choice at UEFA Women's EURO 2009 and 2013.

Coach Tony Gustavsson, whose team play Austria's SV Neulengbach in the quarter-finals in March, said: "Tinja-Riikka is experienced, has good feet, is good in the air and uses her physique in a very good way."

Korpela, who watched Tyresö's home win against Fortuna Hjørring in the round of 16, added: "It was a fun match to watch. I liked the way that Tyresö played, keeping the ball on the ground with lots of runs being made by the players who did not have the ball."

Gustavsson will also still be able to call on Dahlkvist and forward Edlund as well as defenders Klingenberg and Engen, plus top scorer Press after the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) gave them permission to remain in Sweden until the summer. Among those who previously committed themselves to the club is FIFA Women's World Player of the Year nominee Marta.
