FC Rosengård have agreed a three-year deal with five-time FIFA World Player of the Year Marta.

The Brazilian international has played for the Swedish champions and UEFA Women's Champions League quarter-finalists since June, on an initial six-month contract. Marta is currently playing for Brazil in a tournament in her homeland and has been buoyed by her renewed terms, helping her side to come from 2-0 down to beat the United States.

"We had a handshake over the phone in the early hours of Monday," Rosengård president Håkan Wifvesson told the media on Wednesday. "Then she went straight out and scored three goals against the USA!"Marta posted on her Instagram page: "I am very happy and proud to have signed a new contract with Rosengård. My ambition is to win more titles with this fantastic team."

Earlier in the week, Rosengård, who will face Wolfsburg in the last eight of the UEFA Women's Champions League in March, signed central defender Emma Berglund from Damallsvenskan rivals Umeå IK. Meanwhile, German midfielder Katrin Schmidt has left the club for Hammarby IF and Elin Rubensson departed for Kopparbergs/Göteborg FC.
