Marley pleased with Everton bow

Everton LFC made a fine start to European football with three successive wins in the UEFA Women's Cup first qualifying round, and manager Mo Marley is hungry for more.

'Bodes well'
Runners-up behind Arsenal LFC in England last season, Everton gained qualification as the Gunners won the continental crown and proved a force in their own right in Lithuania as they beat Group A1 hosts Gintra Universitetas 4-0 and Glentoran Belfast United 11-0 before seeing off Swiss champions FFC Zuchwil 05 5-0. "It was the toughest game so far but we were determined to win and reach the next stage in the competition," Marley told Everton's official website. "It has been a journey into the unknown for us really and the girls have done fantastically well. We have scored 20 goals and not conceded one. Our season is yet to start so it bodes well. The girls have been so professional and have taken each game in their stride."

Experience
The Toffees return to European action in October following the FIFA Women's World Cup, for which they supply six of the England squad, and will be in second qualifying round Group B1 against two-time winners 1. FFC Frankfurt, former quarter-finalists Valur Reykjavík and KFC Rapide Wezemaal of Belgium - a real step up. However, Marley is satisfied with what has been achieved so far in their debut mini-tournament. "It has been a really good trip and the senior players have set a great example to the younger members of the team," she said.
