European debutants Tyresö FF have one foot in the semi-finals of the UEFA Women's Champions League after Christen Press and Marta both registered hat-tricks in a dominant 8-1 first-leg win against SV Neulengbach.

The hosts laid down a marker in the first minute as Press opened the scoring, with Marta doubling the advantage after five minutes. Both players then struck again and Lisa Dahlkvist also found the net before the Austrian visitors responded. Madelaine Edlund restored the five-goal lead and the hat-tricks were completed late on.

The Swedish side started the game in the best possible fashion as left-back Meghan Klingenberg set up Press to register inside 60 seconds. Shortly afterwards, Marta contributed a goal of her own and the situation almost got immediately worse for Neulengbach, only for a Malin Diaz effort to be cleared off the line.

Marta hit her second in the 27th minute, converting from Diaz's pass before Dahlkvist converted from close range to make it four. Jana Vojteková hit the crossbar with a free-kick for the visitors, but it was Press who got the next goal, rounding goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger to slot in.

Tseng Shu-O reduced the deficit in the 68th minute when her shot deflected in off Caroline Seger, but substitute Edlund swiftly responded, tapping into an empty net. Press was the first to complete her treble in the 80th minute with a delightful left-footed finish, and her Brazilian team-mate matched her tally five minutes later via a diving header. Tyresö will expect to close out the tie and seal their place in the last four when the two sides reconvene on 29 March.
