1. FFC Turbine Potsdam remain on course for a fifth UEFA Women's Champions League final appearance after dispatching ASD Torres CF 8-0 in their quarter-final first leg.

An early own goal by Torres defender Linda Tucceri Cimini set the tone for a one-sided encounter, with Lia Wälti, Pauline Bremer and Julia Simic adding to Potsdam's first-half lead. Not content with their lot, the German outfit powered four more unanswered goals past Torres after the restart to leave themselves on the brink of the semi-finals.

The contest was just two minutes old when Cimini inadvertently turned Lisa Evans's centre into her own net. Midfielder Wälti made it two and Bremer then struck after Evans had been denied by a post. Torres's misery was complete on the stroke of half-time when Simic put the result beyond doubt with her second.

The home team's response was spirited, Patrizia Panico going close after combining with Sandy Iannella, while Sandy Maendly struck the woodwork with a free-kick. Further chances arrived for Maendly and Panico, yet there was to be no breakthrough for the Italians, who paid a high price for their profligacy.

Following a swift Potsdam counterattack, Genoveva Añonma created an opening for Simic, who made no mistake. The goalscorer then repaid the favour for Añonma to make it six on 55 minutes, before Johanna Elsig and Evans rounded off proceedings ahead of the 30 March decider.
