HRH Prince Daniel of Sweden, husband of the heiress apparent, will attend the opening match of UEFA Women's EURO 2013 on 10 July. Prince Daniel's presence marks the importance of the tournament, which is the ultimate stage for women's national team football in Europe.

Hosts Sweden play Denmark at the Gamla Ullevi Stadium in Gothenburg to officially launch the tournament at 18.00CET that day. Prince Daniel is patron both of the tournament and of the Make A Healthy Heart Your Goal campaign, UEFA's social corporate responsibility programme for the final tournament, in partnership with the Swedish Football Association (SvFF), the World Heart Federation and the Swedish Heart and Lung Foundation.

SvFF president Karl-Erik Nilsson said: "We are very pleased that Prince Daniel confirmed that he will see the inaugural game, and thus show support both for the Swedish national team and for the tournament, which means so much to Swedish football."
