Due to high public demand, the organisers of UEFA Women's EURO 2013 will release another 10,000 tickets for the final on 28 July. The capacity for the match at the Friends Arena in Solna will thus be increased from 30,000.

The decision to release more tickets was taken on Wednesday morning by the Swedish Football Association (SvFF) and UEFA. The reason is the huge interest in the tournament. All of Sweden's matches have been sold out, but even games not featuring the host country have attracted large numbers.

On Tuesday, more than 8,000 fans saw Denmark play Finland in Gothenburg, and Wednesday's fixture between Germany and Norway in Kalmar is sold out. The previous record for total ticket sales at a UEFA Women's EURO was broken last week.

When Sweden applied to stage the event, the proposed venue for the final was the recently built Friends Arena, but with its capacity down from the full 50,000 to 30,000 seats. Even before the end of the group stage, however, all available tickets for the final have been sold, guaranteeing a tournament record crowd. At the same time, public interest in the championship keeps growing. Wednesday's decision is to open up half of the upper tier of the Friends Arena, making approximately 10,000 more tickets available for the public.
