Forty-four teams have entered qualifying for UEFA Women's EURO 2013 in Sweden and eight will be involved in the preliminary round draw at 11.45CET on Friday in Nyon.

While the 36 hopefuls with the highest coefficient – taking into account the final tournaments of UEFA Women's EURO 2009 and the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup as well as qualifying for those events and the 2011 World Cup – have a bye to the group stage, the rest must take part in preliminary four-team one-venue mini-tournaments from 3 to 8 March 2011.

Those groups will be hosted by the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia and Malta, with each nation to meet any three of Armenia, Luxembourg, Georgia, the Faroe Islands, Lithuania and Latvia. The two mini-tournament winners will progress to join the other 36 teams, including holders Germany, in the qualifying group-stage draw on 14 March.

In that round there will be seven groups – four of five sides and three containing six countries – played on a home-and-away basis between September 2011 and September 2012. The group winners and best runner-up will join hosts Sweden in the finals from 10 to 28 July 2013 along with the victors in three two-legged play-offs held between the other second-placed teams in October 2012.

Preliminary round draw
Pot 1 (hosts): Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Malta
Pot 2: Armenia, Luxembourg, Georgia, Faroe Islands, Lithuania, Latvia

Each group will contain one team from Pot 1 and three from Pot 2.
