Scott at the double for England

England 4-0 Belarus Two goals by Alex Scott helped England complete a resounding UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ Group 1 victory in Walsall.

Two goals by Alex Scott and further strikes by Kelly Smith and Eniola Aluko ensured England kept their UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ qualifying prospects on course with a resounding 4-0 victory against Group 1 rivals Belarus on Saturday.

Influential Scott
The versatile Scott played in both midfield and attack at the recent FIFA Women's World Cup but a return to her customary full-back role did little to stilt her eye for goal. The game was ten minutes when the 23-year-old broke the deadlock by stealing into the area to head in Fara Williams's inviting cross. The hosts could have doubled their lead soon afterwards as Katie Chapman missed three goalscoring chances.

Aluko lively
Rachel Yankey also went close when volleying wide before Smith made it 2-0 on the half-hour. Scott's run and cross set up her Arsenal LFC team-mate to head in powerfully from 12 metres. After the break, the England captain played in Aluko to race past the last defender and finish into the far corner and the Chelsea LFC attacker was subsequently involved in a deft one-two with substitute forward Lianne Sanderson, who teed up Scott to fire in her eighth international goal. England are second in the pool with six points from two matches, a point behind the Czech Republic who drew 2-2 in their third Group 1 match against Spain.
