Norway moved a step closer to qualification for UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ in Finland with a 3-0 victory against Poland.

The result, Norway's fifth win from as many outings in Group 6, maintained Bjarne Berntsen's side's record of not having conceded in the section. Lene Storløkken gave the home side the lead on 19 minutes, heading home a Leni Larsen Kaurin cross from the right. Poland wasted a great chance to level when Agnieszka Winczo shot wide, and they were to regret that miss when Solveig Gulbrandsen lobbed in a second for Norway six minutes before half-time.
Norway started the second half in positive mood and scored their third within a minute of the restart. Melissa Wiik made no mistake when clean through, but despite continuing to create chances, Norway were unable to add to their lead. Norway lead nearest challengers Russia by six points and boast a +19 goal difference, and end their qualifiers there on 2 October, but Berntsen is insistent that his side have not secured their place in Finland just yet.
"We are still not through. We have difficult away games against Austria, Poland and Russia to come. Much can be settled before the game against Russia," he said. "We were in full control, and could have scored some more goals."
