Austria win gives outside chance

Israel 0-2 Austria
Goals from Nina Burger and Elisabeth Tieber gave the visitors the points to keep their chances of progression alive.

Austria maintained their outside chances of gaining a UEFA WOMEN'S EURO 2009™ play-off place after winning 2-0 against Israel.

Hot conditions
Goals from Nina Burger and Elisabeth Tieber gave the visitors the victory at Beit Shea'an in a game played in extremely hot conditions. Burger struck first after 17 minutes and although Israel coach Alon Schrair tried to change the flow by making made a double substitution in the 40th minute, Tieber doubled Austria's lead two minutes later. Austria are third in Group 6, but probably need a win in Russia on 27 August to have a chance of reaching the play-offs. Israel's seventh defeat in a row means they finish their campaign in bottom spot.
