UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship holders Germany will take on Switzerland, Russia and Hungary in the second qualifying round after the draw was made in Nyon today.
June finals
Only the four group winners in the mini-tournaments in the spring will progress to the finals in Nyon from 22-25 June 2009 and Germany are aiming to have a chance to defend the trophy they won at the town's Colovray Stadium last May, though Switzerland will hope to pip them to earn a campaign on home soil. in a group hosted by Hungary, which will be the last to finish on 13 April. Last season's runners-up and third-placed sides, France and Denmark, are both in Group 4 with hosts the Netherlands and Wales while the other 2008 finalists England play two of the teams they overcame to get there, the Czech Republic and Belgium, as well as Spain in Group 2. Ukraine, Norway, Sweden and F.Y.R. Macedonia are in Group 1.
