Belgium and Poland happy with draw

Belgium and Poland are both through to the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship second qualifying round.

Duo through
The pair both beat Bulgaria and Romania in their opening two first qualifying round Group 6 fixtures, leaving themselves playing for top spot and automatic progress on Tuesday. Laura Deneve put Belgium ahead before the break but Ewelina Wołosiewicz secured a 1-1 draw for the mini-tournament hosts. Poland finished second on goal difference but are assured of their second qualifying round berth because they finish as one of the six runners-up from the ten groups with the best record against the teams first and third in their section.

Opening wins
A 3-1 win against Romania kick-started Belgium's campaign. Tine Schrijvers's first-half goal was cancelled out by a Stefania Vatafu penalty but the Belgium player restored the lead and Tessa Wullaert made certain. Poland defeated Bulgaria 2-0 courtesy of Patrycja Królikowska and substitute Marta Stodulska.

Convincing Belgium
The hosts then defeated Romania 3-0, Marta Cichosz scoring in the opening seconds and Sandra Lichtenstein and substitute Stodulska adding further goals at the end of each half. Belgium defeated Bulgaria 7-1 with Kimberly Verbist scoring twice and Wullaert, Stefanie Ninclaus, Annemie Liefhooghe, substitute Mégane Lerinckx and Deneve also on target, the consolation claimed by Martina Kyoseva.

Romania consolation
On Matchday 3, Romania beat Bulgaria 1-0 with an added-time goal from substitute Tunde Miklos to finish third. Meanwhile, Poland's record as runners-up means that France, one of only two teams to reach both four-team final tournaments – finishing second in 2008 and third last season – cannot now go through having ended below two-time champions Germany in their group.
