Fresh from scoring five goals to help Germany win the UEFA European Women's Under-17 Championship final 7-0 against Spain, striker Kyra Malinowski was "still not sure" if it had been her best performance in national-team colours. Her colleagues Ramona Petzelberger and Lynn Mester were in no doubt of the importance of Malinowski's contribution while Nicole Rolser made no secret of their ruthless approach as uefa.com rounds up the reaction from the victorious camp.
Kyra Malinowski, striker
I am still not sure whether this was my best game for Germany. I am obviously delighted that I managed to score five goals because it was good for the team. In the end it does not matter how well I played – the only thing that counts is that we are the European champions.
Ramona Petzelberger, midfielder
It was extremely difficult in the opening minutes and Spain had a really good chance. But we managed to get a grip on the game and put some excellent passes together which was a lot of fun and it got a lot easier for us as the game went on and the goals kept coming. Kyra had a great game today and everything seemed to go her way. I am sure everybody enjoyed watching her play today. There are always things you can improve even after a game like this but to be honest – none of us care about that now because we are the European champions.
Lynn Mester, midfielder
The first goal gave us a lot of courage and helped us bring out the best in ourselves. After taking the lead we wanted more and Kyra did a great job for us up front. None of us were sure who had actually scored the first goal but I am happy that it was finally awarded to me.
Nicole Rolser, striker
I would say the first 20 minutes of the game were extremely important for us because we managed to score twice and that helped us deal with the nerves. We did not want to take things slowly even after taking a 5-0 lead. We just wanted to get a lot more goals and make sure that there was no way back for Spain.
