Seven-goal Bjånesøy takes scoring prize

Norway striker Melissa Bjånesøy has been crowned top scorer after scoring in every outing at the 2011 UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship.

The IL Sandviken youngster was on target in all five of Norway's matches in Emilia-Romagna, scoring seven times in all. Her side were already 6-0 down when she registered in the final, going on to lose 8-1 to Germany, whose forward Lena Lotzen was her nearest rival on five goals.

Since making her U19 debut last March (she never represented her country at previous levels), the 19-year-old has scored 19 goals in 21 appearances. Her haul in Emilia-Romagna took her tally to 13 for the campaign, three clear in the overall scoring charts of Austria's Lisa Makas. Only Elena Danilova of Russia has ever managed more, scoring 15 in 2004/05 and 17 in 2005/06.

There was little cause for celebration from Bjånesøy in Imola, however.
