Filippozzi ruled out for Italy

Italy's UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship ambitions have been dealt a significant blow after centre-back Roberta Filippozzi was ruled out for the rest of the finals.

Beaten by Germany in their Group A opener, Italy's UEFA European Women's Under-19 Championship ambitions have been dealt a further blow after Roberta Filippozzi was ruled out for the rest of the finals.

The centre-back suffered a knee injury in the second half of the Azzurrine's 4-1 defeat in Skopje on Monday. The 18-year-old CF Bardolino Verona defender finished the match, but doctors today confirmed she will play no further part in the tournament in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. Italy are permitted to name a replacement.
