Prodigious talent
Sällström, a prodigiously talented teenager, burst on to the international stage in Hungary this summer as the Finns reached the semi-finals of the previous edition, and carried her form into the opener this time around as Belarus were swept aside 14-0 – Susanna Hokkanen and Elina Sormunen also scoring five times apiece.
Ukraine through
Ukraine got off to a winning start too, beating Moldova 3-1, before edging their second game 3-2 against Belarus, Ganna Mozolska's 82nd-minute penalty proving to be the clincher. Finland also made it two wins from two by seeing off Moldova 2-0 to set up a pool decider against the Ukrainians from which they emerged triumphant. Anatoliy Kutsev's side qualified for the next stage as well.
