Maren Meinert
Overall, I was pleased with my side. In the semi-final against France we were not the worse team. But they found a way to beat us. We qualified for the World Cup and the team will develop. But we would have liked to win the tournament because we were the best team. It was sad not to reach the final but the players learned that if you want to achieve things, you have to find ways of winning games like the one against France.

Germany team analysis

Germany team analysis

• 4-2-3-1 with Linda Dallmann (No10) pushing up as shadow striker

• Fluent, one-touch combinations on flanks or through middle

• Skilful Lina Magull (No6) the playmaker and defence-to-attack link player

• Collective work ethic to press high and counterattack at speed

• Emphasis on building from the back; Sarah Romert (No5) prepared to push forward

• Disciplined, well-organised team with high levels of technique

• Attacks led by Pauline Bremer (No9); explosive pace, off-ball runs, predatory finishing
