Double joy for Rosenborg

Rosenborg BK clinched the Norwegian league and cup 'double' on Sunday, beating FK Bodø/Glimt 3-1 in the final after two extra-time goals from Jan Gunnar Solli.

Ninth cup win
It was the ninth Norwegian cup triumph for Rosenborg, who clinched their 12th successive league title in September. Stig Johansen, the Bodø/Glimt captain said: "Solli was great and we had nobody to match him at the end of the game."

Basel disappointment
In contrast, it was a weekend of disappointment for Swiss league leaders FC Basel. Three days after losing the home leg of their UEFA Cup second-round match against Newcastle United FC 3-2, Christian Gross's side were knocked out of the Swiss Cup 1-0 by Grasshopper-Club in the last 16.

Eduardo winner
Brazilian Eduardo scored the only goal of the game in the 63rd minute to knock out the holders, who won last season's competition with a 6-0 rout of Neuchâtel Xamax FC in the final. It was Basel's first domestic defeat in 26 matches.

Czech stalemate
In the Czech Republic, FC Baník Ostrava maintained their six-point lead over AC Sparta Praha as the two sides drew 1-1 at the Letná stadium. Defender Petr Drozd benefited from a mix-up in the Sparta defence to give Baník the lead but Tomás Jun levelled 15 minutes before the end.

First defeat of the season
Bulgarian league leaders PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv suffered their first defeat of the season as they fell 2-1 against PFC Litex Lovech. Premier League top scorer Martin Kamburov opened the scoring for Lokomotiv after five minutes with his 12th goal of the campaign. However, the hosts hit back through goals from Stefan Yurukov and Eugen Trica on seven and 53 minutes respectively.

CSKA narrow gap
Second-placed PFC CSKA Sofia narrowed the gap between themselves and Lokomotiv Plovdiv to just two points with a 1-0 win against league newcomers PFC Rodopa Smolian. Bulgaria's Under-21 captain, Emil Gargorov scored the winner.

Change of leader
There was a change of leader in the Danish Superliga as the toing and froing between Esbjerg fB and Brøndby IF continued. Brøndby fell to second after an entertaining 2-2 home draw with champions FC København in front of 29,000 spectators.

Zuma at the double
South African international Sibusiso Zuma twice gave København the lead, but Danish international Morten Wieghorst and Sweden's Andreas Jakobsson twice drew Brøndby level. EfB took advantage by going top with a 2-0 win against Herfølge BK - golden boy Tommy Bechmann scoring both goals.

Žalgiris beat champions
Cup winners FK Žalgiris Vilnius surprisingly triumphed in the Lithuanian Super Cup, beating champions FBK Kaunas 2-1 in Siauliai. Mindaugas Grigalevicius scored twice for the victors while Ricardas Beniusis hit a last-minute consolation.

Few surprises
There were few surprises in the quarter-finals of the Estonian Cup, with JK Tulevik Viljandi the only top-flight side to fall, losing 3-0 to recently promoted FC Lootus Kohtla-Järve.

Match abandoned
Finally, in Romania the headlines were dominated by the game between FC Oradea and FCM Bacau, which was called off in the 60th minute by referee Cristian Balaj. Three Bacau players were sent off in the first 36 minutes and in the 62nd minute, with the club having already made their allotted substitutions and with two injured players unable to continue, the referee called a halt.

FRF to judge
According to the Romanian league's regulations, if a team is reduced to six players by red cards then the opposition is awarded the match 3-0. However, as this match also involved injured players the case will be judged by the disciplinary commission of the Romanian Football Federation (FRF).
