Fer gives inside line on Netherlands squad

The self-proclaimed joker, DJ and dancer, Leroy Fer took time out on the beach in Tel Aviv to speak to UEFA.com. The FC Twente midfielder talked us through his Netherlands team-mates – from the fastest member of the squad to the player most likely to become a coach.

Fastest …
That's my cousin, Patrick van Aanholt, who plays for Chelsea in the UK. He is always betting with everybody that he's the fastest, but I think he is.

Hard man …
I think [Kevin] Strootman. He is the captain. He is the hard man. He is always concentrated and always focused, which is also why he is the team captain.

Strongest …
Yes, that would be me! That would be me! No, no… I think Nick Marsman, the second or third goalkeeper.

Most skilful …
Georginio Wijnaldum. He is also a good friend of mine. He is a very good player – skilful, technical, very smart. I think he's a player every trainer wants to have in their team. A No10, he can play on the right, but he's basically a No10, so behind the striker, and very skilful.

Team DJ …
That's also me. Before the game there is always my music on. It's always a club mix so everybody likes it.

Most likely to be a coach …
A player? I think Strootman [looking at] the way he thinks. He can be a laugh, but also when you have to focus he's focused and concentrated. He's the captain so I believe he can also be a coach.

Best nickname …
This guy, Jordi Clasie. We call him Santa Claus because his last name is Clasie. We also have Patrick, 'Pata'; 'Gini', Georginio Wijnaldum; they call me 'Lera', Leroy. Yes, there are a lot.

Best dancer ...
That would be me, for sure! No, no, no. No, no, no. [laughs] I have to dance with somebody and my girlfriend is not here.
