Rosenborg release By Rise

Following defeat by PSV Eindhoven, Rosenborg BK coach Ola By Rise will be leaving the club in December.

Rosenborg BK have announced that coach Ola By Rise will be leaving the club in December.

Home defeat
By Rise, whose contract runs until the end of 2005, has guided perennial champions Rosenborg to the top of the Norwegian Premier Division, although they are locked on 42 points with Vålerenga IF with two matches of the 2004 campaign to play. In the UEFA Champions League, they are bottom of Group E following last night's 2-1 home defeat by PSV Eindhoven.

League focus
The 43-year-old will preside over the team for their three remaining matches in the section, in addition to their first three fixtures in the Scandinavian Royal League and those two outstanding league fixtures. "I would have liked to have completed my contract but my main focus now is securing the league title. I hope this will give the team fresh impetus before the important run-in," said By Rise.

No comment on replacement
Rosenborg have yet to comment on a replacement but it is expected that a new coach will be in charge by February when Rosenborg will play their remaining three fixtures in the group stage of the Scandinavian Royal League.
